The All Star Classic returns to the Tri-Cities March 15

The SWX All-Star Classic returns to the Tri-Cites and Kamiakin High School on March 15 for another star-studded matchup of the best players from the Tri-Cities and Yakima.

The girls game will tip off at 4pm and the boys game will follow at 6:30pm. New this year, the event will feature a three-point shooting contest between the boys and girls contest. Basketball fans will select the 3-point shooters in a social media poll.

The teams will be selected by Cooper Perkins and Austin Getz of SWX and retired Tri-City Herald sports editor Jeff Morrow with input from the Yakima Herald-Republic sports staff.

The Yakima boys have dominated the series, now in its 25th year, with a commanding 22-6 record. Meanwhile the Tri-City girls hold a 20-8 record, including winning the last 10 games in the series.

Tickets prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. Proceeds from the games will be donated to the Kamiakin High School Dance Team and the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Cities.

NOTE: The 2020 game was canceled on March 12 out of concern from the Coronavirus. The game was not played, however players still received souvenir jerseys.
